This is scripture from Hagar’s hopeless wandering in the desert of Beersheba, after she and her son, were sent packing. Their provision for water was depleted and death dangled its strings, enticing Hagar's soul. An angel of the Lord intervened in the middle of their cries and spoke a promise that Hagar had been given before concerning his son's future. The same son whom, prior to this visitation, she thought that death was his fate.

Don't we all need a reminder of God's promise about our future, especially when our heart is plagued with despair?

Yet still, God is not blind to the needs of the present. He cares for you (he opened Hagar's eyes that she may perceive and partake of the present hope, their provision for now). May he open your eyes to see the well in your present desert, which will refresh your soul as you grow into the fulfillment of his promise for your tomorrow.
